The Lying Woods Ashley Elston Books

Oh Ashley Elston, your books keep getting better and better.

Owen’s mother pulls him out of boarding school with the news his father has fled town with half the town’s money. Seems his father ran a Ponzi scheme. Now Owen’s mansion has been seized and his mom has been getting threats. Back at public school, classmates treat Owen like he’s the thief. Past and present collide when Owen starts working for Gus, the same man his dad worked for when he met his mom.

THE LYING WOODS starts off as a story of family betrayal and becomes a mystery with a resolution I defy any reader to imagine. Don’t read too many reviews, the less you know the better.

With THE LYING WOODS, Ashley Elston is now a must pre-order writer. Run to the nearest bookstore or to Amazon and grab your copy. While your at it, all her other books are worth reading. In fact, I’m about to re-read every one.

The Lying Woods Ashley Elston Books Reviews

After reading a couple of heavy sci-fi/fantasy books, I was in the mood for an intriguing mystery. I'd never read anything else by this author, but rest assured, I plan on correcting that.

I finished this book in less than two days (while I was supposed to be working on several other projects), but just couldn't put it down. The dual narrative between Owen and Noah is done so well, and goes about revealing the layers of secrets at a perfect pace. A small town setting and and secluded pecan farm only add to the years-old secrets. With the shocking situation Owen and his mother find themselves in, being stripped of everything they own and having to endure horrible comments and treatment from both adults and teens affected by Owen's father, it's incredibly easy to relate to them. Rather than wallowing in self-pity over everything he'd lost, I admired Owen's determination to better his situation, help his mother, and find his father.

Upon reaching the end of the book, I had several theories, but the twist came as a surprise. Warning Whatever you do, don't flip to the end of this novel and spoil it for yourself!

If you're looking for an absolutely un-put-downable mystery with deliciously surprising twists, this is your book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was as expected.
Chose it because I enjoy reading this author. I liked the entanglement of the characters.
This was a great book. Kept me in suspense to the very end. Love all the storylines all coming to a great ending if the book. Accolades to Ashley Elston. Can't wait to read her next book.😍😍😍
I enjoy Elston's writing style. She has a way of making readers care about the lead characters instantly. This book was a wonderful mystery with ties to the past complete with a shocking turn of events at the end. It also is a good lesson in loving parents even after betrayal.
Damn.

I couldn't put this down. I was enthralled with Owen & Noah's story! I was partially expecting something more sinister due to Elston's last novel but I still loved trying to put all the pieces together even if it didn't revolve around a murder. The twist was unexpected and I loved the reveal.
The Lying Woods is Ashley Elston's latest twisty YA thriller. The story follows MC Owen as he tries to come to terms with what his father has done and how his life will never be the same. Owen along with Noah - the other young man the story follows - are both amazingly real characters. Ashley has a talent for getting into her characters' heads and this book is no exception. Also, the details surrounding the setting on the pecan orchard are spectacular. It's obvious Ashley has spent time around pecan harvesting and it's woven into the story like another character.
As with Ashley's other books, The Lying Woods has plenty of twists and turns on the way to it's very satisfying ending. Just when you think you have it figured out, BAM, everything changes.
The Lying Woods is a lovely, slow burn that builds to a thriller you can't put down. I read it deep into the night, unable to leave Owen, Noah, and the other cast of characters in that small Louisiana town.
